Pedestrian outside crosswalk struck by car

A 69-year-old man was critically injured after he was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon in the east valley, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The man was struck by a Mercury SUV in the far left lane on southbound Boulder Highway, just south of U.S. Highway 95, about 2:30 p.m., while crossing the street from east to west, NHP trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said. He was crossing from the Boulder Station Hotel and Casino area outside of a crosswalk.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the Mercury stayed on scene and was not injured.
