Mountain West honors UNLV seniors Dakota Blazak, Hayley Wilson
UNLV seniors Dakota Blazak and Hayley Wilson were honored by the Mountain West on Monday for their performances over the past week, marking the second consecutive week that UNLV swept the weekly awards.
Blazak was tabbed the conference’s Offensive Player of the Week while Wilson was the Defensive Player of the Week.
Between two games against Northern Arizona and Eastern Washington, Blazak scored three goals and recorded six points. For her efforts, she was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player at the UNLV Invitational and was also included on the all-tournament team.
Wilson helped lead UNLV’s defense, which gave up just three goals in the two victories. She also added an assist in the victory over Northern Arizona on Friday and like Blazak, she was also named to the All-Tournament team. She was also tabbed as the Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the tournament.
Last week, Michaela Morris was the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week while Chidera Akubuilo was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.
