Las Vegas teacher arrested for alleged ‘terroristic threats’

A Clark County high school teacher was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making “terroristic threats,” according to police.
The female teacher at Bonanza High School was arrested by Metropolitan Police Department officers, police spokesman Jay Rivera confirmed. Rivera did not immediately have more information because the arrest was being processed.
The threats were not specifically directed at the school and were general in nature, he said.
A message sent to Bonanza parents from Principal Joe Petrie confirmed police arrested the teacher on campus Wednesday, but it did not name the employee or what department the employee worked in. District officials declined to name the employee, but said the employee would be “assigned to home” upon release from police custody.
“Please know that this is a police investigation and, as school officials, we do not have additional information to share. Any information regarding the investigation will have to come from Metro,” Petrie wrote.
Clark County School District police Capt. Ken Young said he was aware of the arrest but that his office didn’t participate.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
