1 dead in 3-vehicle crash in central Las Vegas Valley
A woman was killed Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision that left one car wrapped around a pole in the central valley, Las Vegas police said.
The collision happened about 6:50 a.m. near Rainbow and Lake Mead boulevards, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Isaac Auten.
The woman was driving north on Rainbow when a man driving a 2006 Dodge Durango sideswiped the car behind her before hitting the back of her 2014 Dodge Dart, police said. The collision sent the 29-year-old woman’s car crashing into a pole. She died at the scene.
Police said the Durango’s driver, 26-year-old Timothy Naas, fled the scene of the crash and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces hit and run and driving under the influence charges, police said.
The woman’s name will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once her family has been notified. This is the 27th traffic-related death Metro has investigated this year.
